Rainforest Adventure SUP Tours

Kuranda Rainforest Adventure SUP Tours

The Kuranda Rainforest Adventure SUP Tours are  becoming more and more popular by the week. If transport is required, we offer a pick up service from your accommodation or you Can meet at the Kuranda turn off early morning. We then drive for a further 5 minutes to our secret location 😉 there we unload the boards and that where the adventure Stand Up Paddle Boarding begins. The river is surrounded by lush rainforest that hangs over the river. In some place the trees even meet from either side of the river. After exploring the rainforest, we take a break on the river bank where refreshments and snacks are provided. We then slowly make our way back through the rainforest.

Rainforest Paddle Boarding

Rainforest Paddle Boarding

Rainforest paddle boarding is a magical experience.  We are extremely lucky up here in Cairns because we have lots of beautiful rain forest locations with slow flowing clean tropical waters.

Kuranda Rainforest Paddle boarding

Kuranda is located on the eastern edge of the Atherton Table lands.  Its a quick 20 minute drive from the village of Smithfield located north of Cairns city.

We have an awesome location upstream of Kuranda that we head up to for our private paddle boarding rain forest adventures.  The scenery is breathtaking and around each corner of the river is another adventure waiting to happen.

Level of Experience Required for Paddle boarding the Rainforest

The magic of this place is that you don’t really need any experience to paddleboard here.  The river is as flat as it gets and flows very gently.  There are one or two very small rapids, but these are easy to negotiate.  We simply approach them and walk around the side.  Or if you are game enough you can flow down them for some extra excitement.

How Our Rainforest Paddle boarding Trips Roll

First things first.  If you need a lift up to our special location, we will pick you up and drop you off home at the end. Once we arrive there, we get the boards out and give you a beach side demo on how to paddle board before entering the water.

After this, the magic begins.  We gently paddle along the river soaking up the natural environment as we go. Bird life is abundant and fish are to be seen in the clean river.

About half way through the trip we stop for a well earned morning tea break  Now is a good time to share experiences , bond and eat some fresh tropical fruit.

The second half of the tour becomes even more interesting than the first.  The rain forest gets thicker and the river meanders into it.

So, if you are keen to check the incredible Kuranda Rainforest Experience, Please give us a call and we can book you in.  Or you can book right here on line.

Paddle Boarding Cairns

Paddle Boarding Cairns

Cairns has a lot to offer in the way of paddle boarding. Paddle boarding has exploded all over the norther beaches. You can catch pretty much any wave on a paddle board, so the small waves we get in the far north are perfect for paddle boards. We also have amazing reefs all along the coast and there’s no better way to see them than to cruise along from above on a paddle board. We also have the Tableland at our door step. Lake Eacham, Lake Barrine and lake Tinaroo are all amazing stops to go paddle boarding, especially during the summer them it’s hot and humid.

Marine life

We are so blessed to have such diverse marine life in Cairns. It’s what makes paddle boarding in Cairns different from anywhere else.  Double Island is probably one of the better coastal reefs in he area. Double island has a massive surrounding reef that is swarming with life. Cruising along the feef you are almost guaranteed to see turtles – they are everywhere. There’s also an array of fish, small sharks and rays. The coral along the reef is also breathtaking.

While Paddle boarding off Palm Cove Beach we often see pods of dolphins feeding in the bay. You will also see a lot of marine life along the coastal areas heading to Port Douglas.

Conditions

We have a rage of different conditions suitable for paddle boarding in Cairns. During the winter we often get a lot of wind from the south east, so picking the right spot on those windy days is important. Kewarra Beach, Buchan’s point and Yorkeys Knob boat ramp are all great places to go to avoid the wind. They are also all good places in Cairns to go Paddle board some waves. The one good thing about the wind, is that it bring in some swell. Double Island is probably on of the best places to paddle board in the Cairns area. The conditions have to be right though. If t’s windy, don’t bother. But on those calm days, it’s unbeatable.
