Frequently asked questions
Can Beginners Do Kayak Tours in Palm Cove?
Beginners are welcome on our Kayak Tours to Double Island. We will give you a quick briefing on the beach before we head out so that you understand how to use the kayak and paddle most efficently on the water. An average level of fitness is required though, even if you are a beginner to kayaking.
Are your kayak tours family friendly?
Yes, we often take families out on our kayak tours. Most of our kayaks are doubles, so your children can be paired with a parent/guardian in the same kayak. Children must be able to swim and will wear a lifejacket throughout the tour. We even have a childs rate which can be used for children 15 and under.
What wildlife will I see on a Palm Cove Kayak Tour?
You will see a wild range of marine wildlife on our ocean kayak tours. We often see green turtles, shovel nosed rays, dolphins, reef sharks and tropical fish. Often we see different types of birds, including the white bellied sea eagle. You are guarenteed to see something on your tour. Stay close to your guide because they are well trained wildlife spotters!
What do we need to bring on our kayak tour in Palm Cove?
You just need to bring a sun hat, sun glasses, sun protection and good sun safe clothing (ideally that covers your arms and legs). It is recommended to also bring a big bottle of water and your phone if you want to take photographs. We provide dry bags, so you can keep all of your belongings dry in your kayak with you.
What about jellyfish?
Our stinger season is November-May and during these months we provide stinger suits for all of our participants. These also double up as good sun protection!
